The Armsby Abbey is located in downtown Worcester, MA, adjacent to the former Crowne Plaza Hotel (currently MCPHS dorms) and Elwood Adams Hardware. We are conveniently located right off route 290 within walking distance of all the downtown Hotels, DCU Center, Palladium, and Mechanics Hall.
Parking during the day can be tough as the meters tend to fill up early from the nearby Courthouse and Sheriff’s Office. However, after 6:00 PM you do not need to feed the meters and on-street parking is plentiful. Also after 6:00 PM, and anytime on the weekend, we have a large parking lot located between Kangaroo Crossing & Elwood Adams. The lot has a large sign that reads “Armsby (146) Parking by Permit Only” and a small guard shack in front with a sign that states “parking by permit only”; however, this only applies on weekdays till 6:00 PM. Please be aware any cars without a permit parking here before 6PM during the week will be towed; parking in any other lot also puts you at risk of being towed as they are private lots and tow 24/7. Please note that the aforementioned lot restrictions have recently been changed as of 1/30/12 due to abuse by those frequenting the Courthouse. All unauthorized vehicles parked in this lot will now be towed Monday thru Friday from 6AM-6PM.
As we are a small bar room with only 9 tables, the wait for a table after 5:00 PM, especially on Friday & Saturday, could be a bit lengthy but our Host will facilitate seating and our friendly bartenders will gladly provide you with a tasty brew or two to help pass the time. In the warmer months we offer a very cozy sidewalk cafe with an additional four tables and on the horizon, we look forward to a 30 seat expansion and newly renovated kitchen which will help alleviate our capacity issues. Your patience is greatly appreciated in the meantime!
We do NOT take reservations; however, if you have a larger group of 6-20pp please call ahead and we will make our best effort to accommodate you.
Last but not least, due to the bar focused design of our establishment with high top tables and backless stools, we are not able to accommodate small children. Young adults under the age of 21 and children over 3 years of age are welcome any day before 6PM with their parents, however after 6 o’clock, we are strictly a 21 plus establishment. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however we stand firm on this decision and on the comfortable and relaxing adult atmosphere we strive to foster.
