Rare Selections from Alec’s Cellar this Spring…
2008 Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien Grand Cru Vin Jaune
Brasserie Des Franches-Montagnes, Switzerland, 11.0%, $45
A highly coveted & extremely rare Biere de Garde from brewers that have gained a reputation for their unpredictable and delicious beers. This vintage is matured for months in oak barrels that previously contained Vin Jaune, a very unique type of white wine made in the Jura region of Eastern France from the Savagnin grape. The soft oak feature from the barrel staves, the distinctly fruity white grape note, the mandatory dryness that a beer like this demands; it’s all there.
Hesjeol
HaandBryggeriet, Norway, 6.5% (16.9oz) $17
Made from 3 grains, barley, oats and rye and fermented with their special wild house yeast, Hesjeøl is a recreation of a traditional Norwegian farmhouse harvest ale. Farmers always served up harvest ales for thirsty workers. This translation is a refreshingly
fruity and floral ale with a slight smoky and spicy flavor.
Norse Porter
HaandBryggeriet, Norway, 6.0% (16.9oz) $19
The old farmhouse breweries of Norway made many special beers and they were all dark, hearty, earthy beers like this classic porter. The showcase of dark malts attributes to the rich, wonderfully robust and roasty flavor profile. Flavors of dark chocolate and strong coffee along with a light smokiness make it appropriate for any celebration!
February 27, 1832 Mild Ale
Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project, Massachusetts, 10.5% (22oz) $18
The first historical recreation from Pretty Things. this is a London XXXX Mild Ale first brewed on that date on Brick Lane. It was brewed without refrigeration, and the original brewday document was followed, as collected by brewing historian Ron Pattinson. At 10.5%, it doesn’t hide it’s alcohol. Kent Golding leaf hops were used and lend an herbal quality that appears up front. Caramel and butterscotch show up after and linger along with a bit of spiciness.
Nemesis
Founders Brewing Company, Michigan, 12.0% $11
What you have here is a rarity. A special, one-of-a-kind ale that is only made once a year. Seductive aromas and flavors let one know that this is a very unique brew. Toffee coated peanut brittle, bourbon soaked maple candy, circus peanuts and cotton candy are just some things that come to mind when imbibing. The beer is malty rich, smooth and full. Dessert in a glass!
Avery Black Tot
Avery Brewing Company, Colorado, 6.0% $19
This third installment of Avery’s Barrel-Aged Series is an Imperial Oatmeal Stout aged in Gosling’s Old Rum Barrels. It features huge, chewy and endlessly deep flavors of roasted dark malts, sweet rum, espresso and more subtle elements of brown sugar, molasses and vanilla
Please Note:
Due to the rarity of each selection above, ONLY (1) bottle is allowed per customer
